Ballyrenan Portal Tomb

A rare example of a double-chambered portal tomb, roofed with two lintels and two roofstones. Excavations at this site were carried out in 1907 and 1936 and revealed numerous sherds of pottery, flint tools and stone beads. Portal tombs of this type were in use in the Neolithic from 3800 to 3200 BC.

Vampire Academy (A Rant)

You know what? Fine, FINE I totally admit that I am susceptible to the power of suggestion when it comes to fiction. So here it goes.

No joke, I have seen this book on shelves in every store for several years. But each and every time I skimmed over it, the content never really appealing to me.

And when I saw the preview for the movie I rolled my eyes at another attempt at a Vampire series for teens.

However then eclatantly had to go and reblog the following gif set:

Then my interest was piqued on what the hell was going on here…

Thus I went and rented the movie and—

It was totally fine, whatever, interest sated with no repercussions right? Honestly I was totally in the clear until the following:

Really? REALLY?! Watched it five more times in a row, bought the exact copy I rented.

So naturally I had to read all the books. And I had to read them ASAP.

Issue? I had to *sigh*…wait for the books to reach my library. Naturally book 6 came in first.

Long story short: impatience ran out, I bought book one, then came home Tuesday LITERALLY after I just paid for my copy, only to find #1, #2, #4, and #5 ready for pick up.

Now it is Friday, and I have read through the first three books already (had to buy #3 because I couldn’t wait, and today I was informed the library got it in)

BUT OMG! OMG OMG OMG! I CANNOT TAKE THIS! I cannot read fast enough, or long enough here, but my eyes needed a reading break…

So now I’m watching the movie (again) and just being slowly eaten away but not knowing anything fast enough. Not to mention every cute moment Dimitri and Rose have in the movie has me swearing out at their cuteness now.

Just…why can’t there be five more movies and Rose and Dimitri date and have babies in real life?

Just why?

Book four and on is going to destroy me isn’t it? (no spoilers please!)

…needless to say my brain’s a little too occupied to guarantee any Vincent chapters this weekend.

finalproblem:

Queen Mary’s Dolls’ House is one of the fanciest dollhouses in the world. The house has electricity, running water, and a library containing hundreds of tiny books.

One of the volumes in the library is How Watson Learned the Trick. Arthur Conan Doyle wrote the story into the tiny book by hand in 1922. It’s only 503 words long, but took up 34 pages.

It begins:

Watson had been watching his companion intently ever since he had sat down to the breakfast table. Holmes happened to look up and catch his eye.

"Well, Watson, what are you thinking about?" he asked.

"About you."

"Me?"

"Yes, Holmes. I was thinking how superficial are these tricks of yours, and how wonderful it is that the public should continue to show interest in them."

Read the rest of the story here.

There’s an abundance of bad things happening right now, and it’s hard not to be sucked into that black hole of sadness, so let’s have a puppy party shall we.
